Geocache Description:

Small cache located near the Hindman Settlement School in Knott County, Kentucky.

The Hindman Settlement School is located at the forks of Troublesome Creek.

Founded in 1902 by May Stone, longtime DAR member, and Katherine Pettit, the Settlement is the first rural social settlement school in the United States.

The purposes and goals for which the Settlement was founded are the same today as they were in 1902: to provide educational opportunities for the boys and girls of this area, keep them mindful of their heritage, and provide community service activities.
