The cache is located in a city park that is characterized by its wooded areas. It is directly off of the trail. No bushwacking is necessary. Although the hike to cache is not difficult it will take about 20 minutes to get there.
The search for this cache will take you on a hike through my favorite South Bend park, Rum Village. It is characterized by its huge and plentiful oak trees. When we were children, Mom used to take my brother and me here to enjoy the playground, trails and the small zoo that was located here. The playground has expanded, the trails are more organized but the zoo has long gone. Still I find this to be a perfect place to enjoy nature while never leaving the city. As you hike to the cache you will no doubt notice several fallen oaks. These trees are the victims of a tornado that touched down here in 2001. The cache is a small clear plastic container with a red top. There is enough room for the log, a pencil and a few small trade items. The initial contents are the log, pencil, a yellow Jeep Travel Bug and a "ONE".org bracelet. Plan enough time to enjoy the park. If you have children they will love the playground.
