Geocache Description:

Yeti vs. Batman: Yeti, Set, Go!

Another one in the Yeti vs. Batman series that sui generis and I put out South of the Border!

Yeti, Set, Go! You will be running through the finest park in the Metro and one of the best in the state, Dakota County's Spring Lake Park Reserve located just minutes outside of Rosemount and Hastings overlooking the Mississippi River. There were rumors during the 1940s and early 1950s (after the Gopher Munitions Plants were started) that the chemicals and heavy metals thought to be buried in the ground there led to the birth of a severely deformed young man who ran off to spend the rest of his days roaming the wooded banks and caves of the Mississippi. Well, in the 1980s, Dakota County Wildlife Officers actually caught sight of this man, now a beast (or Yeti if you prefer). They set a trap for his capture and after he was caught, he was left to roam a fenced area outside of Rosemount in Hastings along the river for the rest of his life.

Unfortunately, during the late 1990s, the Spring Lake Park Reserve staffer in charge of his imprisonment passed away and the tall fences seperating his paths from that of the park visitors were replaced with signs warning of his presence.

If you happen to see the yeti that Dakota County affectionately renamed "Cliff" make sure to say "hi!". If you don't get to see him, at least you will get to see the signs warning of the danger he may cause.

There have been plenty of gorgeous caches placed in this park and a very successful event was even held here. This trip, however, will be quite different for you. You are searching for a typical cammoed .50 cal ammo can (hey, see that, an ammo can!) hidden in the woods filled with a bunch of stuff that no one wants. Inside you will find a number to unlock coordinates to another unloggable cache in the same park which will contain part of the code to unlock the coordinates to one of the two Yeti vs. Batman bonus/puzzle caches.

Take the key number (call it "k")

North coordinates are at (k - 11 = x) and then (x * 889131)
West coordinates are at (k/2 = x) and then (x * 1157033.5)

While you are not required to do the unloggable bonus cache to gain credit for this cache, we will not hand out any information as to the whereabouts of the Bat Cave or Yeti's Den so you are encouraged to seek the codes out yourself on your first visit. The unloggable bonus cache is is in a "small" sized, round, tupperware container, but it is well hidden.

This unloggable bonus is rated at 2/3. Do not take the direct route approach unless you are EskoClimber, Candy Apple Green, or an experienced rock climber. If you aren't, travel another 250 feet to the left and descend from there. I had no trouble going down or up from that location.
