Römerbrücke
DEUTSCH:
Eine wesentliche verkehrstechnische Bedeutung erlangte der
Dunkelsteinerwald in der Römerzeit (bis Ende des 5.
nachchristlichen Jahrhunderts).
Befestigung erfuhr. In der Wachau konnte jedoch wegen der teils
gewaltigen Steilwände keine Militärstraße angelegt werden. Man
N1 = 48° 14.149´
E1 = 15° 26.653´
Beachte die beidseitig aufgeschichteten Begrenzungsmauern. Ermittle
A
Stage 2: Der Cache
NC = N1 - A
EC = E1 - 4*A
kurze Distanz sehr steil. Für diesen Teil wirst du deine Hände
sicherlich benötigen. Der Vorteil dabei: selbst bei höherer
Schneelage sollte das Cacheversteck schneefrei bleiben.

ENGLISH:
The Dunkelsteinerwald obtained an essential traffic meaning
during the Roman times (untill the end of the 5th century a.d.).
The Danube became the northern border of the Roman Empire, which
got an extra guard by this "Danubelimes". Because of the steep
banks in the Wachau there could not be built a military road. The
soldiers had been supplied with rations coming through the
Dunkelsteinerwald to the landing stages of Aggsbach-Dorf,
Bacharnsdorf and Rossatz. The roads from Mautern to Melk leading
through the Dunkelsteinerwald and along the outer regions had
crossing roads through Mitterbachgraben, the Kupfertal and the
Windsteiggraben directing to the Danube. Roman rail roads can be
found in the Kupfertal and near Bergern. But the nicest relict of
this times is the Roman Bride near Lanzing.
Stage 1: The Roman Bride
N1 = 48° 14.149´
E1 = 15° 26.653´
Take a look to the walls on both sides of the bridge. Count all the
the plugholes and add 4. So you get the value for A.
Stage 2: The Cache
NC = N1 - A
EC = E1 - 4*A
The Cache consists of a plastic box (25 x12 x 5) with the folowing
initial content:
- Logbook, Info Sheet, Pencil (please don´t remove)
- Game
- hair rubber
- necklace
- Music cassette
- TB Fortis
The area near the Cache is unperilous, but at a short distance
very steep. For this part you surely will have to use your hands.
The benefit of this fact is that even when the snow is very deep
the hiding place should remain free of snow.
