This is the 75th "bottle" cache in the "99 Bottles of Beer on the
Wall" series. For a history of the song, see GCPEME.
This series of bottle caches is dedicated to my grandchildren
which make up my "gang."
Tim is my oldest grandchild; he currently is
attending the University of Pittsburgh. Tim and his brother
David accompanied me on my first GeoCache back in April 2002.
Tim has a natural aptitude for math and computers. On our first
trip he was cycling through the options on my Garmin Legend as
we drove west on Route 20. He informed me that we were then
going 57.3 miles per hour. Tim is a moderator of the
NWPAGeoCachers group, and I'm sure many of
you have met him at the event caches he has attended.
Tim's accomplishments include a gold medal for mathematics in the
2004 Pennsylvania State Academic Decathlon competition, small
school honors division. He has also been an active participant in
the Junior Engineering & Technical Society (JETS) competition,
the Pennsylvania Math League (PAML), the American Mathematics
Contest (AMC), and the American Invitational Mathematics
Examination (AIME). Tim was also the secretary of his school's
chapter of the National Honor Society.
He was a drum major and lead trumpet player in his high school's
marching band, and is also an accomplished pianist. As a junior,
Tim attended District Band, Region Band, District Chorus, and
Region Chorus.
All this has left him with little time for GeoCaching, but he did
find his hundredth cache in the summer of 2005. For all this and
much more, I lift a bottle to Tim.
(all biographical information accurate as of Oct 2005
note: this cache IS in a bottle and is on our property. Park in our
driveway and stop in to say hello if you have time. NOTE: if you
attempt this cache directly from our ELK VALLEY cache the terrain
difficulty becomes 4 plus due to the steep hill.)
Happy caching! :)
