“INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST”
The Indiana Spirit Quest series of
geocaches will take you to a number of historic cemeteries
built by Hoosier Pioneers. In just over a year and a half, the
quest has grown to over three hundred seventy caches hidden in
thirty-eight Indiana counties, and two Ohio counties, and the
hiders have grown to eighteen cacher teams, most of which of which
are comprised of Dogs and their Humans.
Over 800 cacher teams have logged over 9,100
finds. One cache machine found 102 ISQ caches in a single day
(daylight hours only).

INDIANA
SPIRIT QUEST #382
”Peter, Peter"
Welcome to the German Baptist Old Order Cemetery in Jackson
Township, Koskiusko County, Indiana. A very neat big old church
here, and big parking lot. Do you want to buy this church?
...
The Old Order German Baptist Brethren are
a small group of Brethren that split from the Old German Baptist
Brethren (OGBB) in 1921. Though similar to the Old German Baptist
Brethren in faith and practice, the Old Order German Baptist
Brethren represent those who desired to maintain a strict adherence
to tradition. When members of the OGBB began to accept automobiles,
this group split from them. They were horse and buggy Brethren
group.
In the late 1800s, the Brethren movement divided into three
main groups: (1) the conservatives, now known as the "Old Order
German Baptist Brethren," (2) the moderates, now known as the
"Church of the Brethren," and the liberals, now known as the
"Brethren Church." In 1926, a conservative wing of the Church of
the Brethren broke off, adopting the name, "Dunkard Brethren."
There are still Bible-believing, conservative Brethren members
among the Church of the Brethen, but most conservative Brethren are
to be found today among the Old Order German Baptist Brethren and
the Dunkard Brethren.
The Old Order German Baptist Brethren hold a nationwide
annual meeting during the time of Pentecost each year. Brethren
travel from all over the country to attend their annual meetings,
which provide wonderful times of fellowship for them. They also
make decisions at their annual meetings concerning various church
and lifestyle issues.
In dress, the German Baptist Brethren look somewhat similar
to the Amish. However, unlike the Amish, they use cars,
electricity, and most modern amenities. Nevertheless, by tradition,
they hold their annual meetings in a large tent, which is normally
set up on one of the member's farms.
A similar horse and buggy group was
founded in 1939. They are called the Old Brethren German
Baptist.
