Hidden in plain view on McNabs Island, close to Timmins Cove.
This is a beautiful island with many seldom used trails. Its
history goes back thousands of years. Over the past few hundred
years it’s been developed for recreation, commerce, farming and
military use. Many ruins remain from each use. The website:
Friends of McNabs
contains a great deal of new and old information and tips.
The cache is named after our sailboat Kiskadee. A couple of times
each week we used to be near Timmins Cove, occasionally spending
the night on a mooring. If you’re geocaching and spot a boat give
them a wave.
The coordinates listed above are only for the nearby shoreline at
the end of Timmins Cove Trail. It’s an ideal spot to land a kayak
or small boat. Large boats should use Wreck Cove or McNabs Cove. If
hiking from McNabs Cove continue through the designated camping
area to find the start of Timmins Cove Trail. Many Geocachers have
spoken highly of the boat services provided by Captain Red Beard
at: McNabs Island Ferry
.
Captain Red Beard, Mike Tilley
The terrain rating is 4.5 as you need a boat to get there.
Otherwise it would be a 3. Please ensure that the container's
screw-on lid is tightly closed. If even a bit loose it will wick in
water. Thanks.
The actual coordinates are found by solving a puzzle. The puzzle
can be found by doing some behind the scenes research.
