Bragg Creek Multi Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

DanOCan: This was the second cache I ever hid. It's funny that it was hidden in late 2005 after the area had been hit by flooding and now it's finally being put to rest almost seven years later because of flooding again. The area where the Stage One micro (originally Stage Two when the cache was hidden) is completely gone and the historic Bragg Creek Trading Post is also pretty much a memory.

Not only has the area been forever changed since I hid this cache, but so has the hobby of Geocaching and so has my personal life. Almost nothing is the same anymore and I just don't imagine I'll ever be able to resurrect this one in the spirit in which it was first conceived. So long old friend.

Geocache Description:

A two-stage multi that will take you around the Bragg Creek area.

If you are looking for a cache filled with all sorts of great trading items, this is NOT the cache for you. The original cache contents would be described by many people as "lame". However, if you believe the joy of caching comes from the hunt and not the swag, you should like this one.

Stage One is a micro cache located at the posted coordinates.

The micro could be difficult to find in the winter. To avoid disturbing too much ground in your search, you may want to use the hint and/or spoiler photos. The micro is a film canister and contains the coordinates for the second (final) stage.

Stage Two is a regular size container. It contains the log book and some basic trading items. My GPSr was only giving me about 20m accuracy at the time of the hide, but I think as long as they get you close to the area the hiding location will be a fairly simple find.

You will need to drive approximately 10km to complete the cache. The longest walk is only 250m or so.

Some history on this cache: This cache was originally a three stage Multi, using an old wooden sign that was on the highway near Bragg Creek as the initial (virtual) stage. You were required to gather info from the sign and do some basic math to calculate the coordinates of the Micro. In April of 2010 this sign was removed. I disabled the cache for two months hoping the sign would be replaced, but it wasn't so I had the coordinates of this cache moved to their current location and reduced it to a Two Stage Multi.
