St Ignatius’ Well
Capt Archibald Chisholm who had rented Glassburn House from Lord Lovat for 40 years built the Well of St Ignatius in 1880 (he also wrote the rules of Shinty while living there). Major-General Collier rebuilt it in 1955 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation. This explains all the associated inscriptions!
Glassburn House
Named after the burn that forms the spectacular falls beside the house. It was originally a small shooting lodge but was extended to accommodate Jesuit priests, hence the cross above the front door. It has been a private house since at least 1872.
