Geocache Description:

Rated a 5 in difficulty because you must use
a WiFi enabled device to complete this cache.
No exceptions.

The terrain is a 1.5 because it is a short walk from South Station in Boston. It is located along a public walkway. Please be discreet when accessing the cache.

Long and short of it: You need a WiFi enabled device
  • Go to South Station (doors are locked from 1am-4am);
  • Fire up your WiFi enabled device;
  • The Pulse Point South Station connection will be there but you will not have to log on;
  • Open a browser, you will be connected to the Pulse Point Content page – or you can type in http://pulsepoint.globe.com/contribute.htm;
  • Look at the source code for that page – if you don’t know how to look at the source code of a web page, find out before you go;
  • Look for the block of code that looks like:
  • Now substitute the numbers you find instead of the letters for the corresponding letters in N 42 EB.JMB W 071 AF.CDH to get the final coords;
  • Go to those coordinates;
  • Find the cache;
  • Log the find on this site.

I hope this all makes sense. If you are confused email me through this site. I will clarify how to do this cache, but will not give any hints on the final.

FTF Prize: There WAS a FTF prize in the cache of a $20 gift certificate to Barbara’s Best Sellers which is located in South Station. Congrats to Bigrock95 on FTF! If you are not FTF you may still want to check out Barbara’s great selection.

Optional activity for Travel Bug enthusiasts:
There once was a TB named South Station Bug. (TBJ09B) The poor thing went missing before he got started. Now his ghost lives on in this cache. On the underside of the cache lid is written the bug’s number. Please log an “in memoriam” on the TB page. You can do this by grabbing him from the cache. Then please drop him back in the cache when you log this cache. Please do not put him in any other cache, and please do not share the number. Any logs for him in other caches or by people who have not been to this cache will be deleted.

Notes: The Pulse Point server is a free access server provided by The Boston Globe. It provides news and local area content available to the general public. There is no usage charge or connection fee. There is a WiFi connection at South Station that is a pay-per-use connection. You DO NOT need to log onto that one to complete this cache. On the Pulse Point main page you will see a link to the Geocaching page which has the coords on it near the bottom of the page.
