The Virtual Cache has been archived and replaced with a Micro
Cache. Try approaching the cache from the east. There are some
barking dogs in a house on the west side.
Fort Washington and Fort Couch were built in June 1863 to defend
Harrisburg. One of the goals of the Confederate Army was to capture
Harrisburg. There was only a minor skirmish at the Battle of
Sporting Hill. This occured a few days before the major battle at
Gettysburg. Only a few Confederate scouts neared Fort Couch.
For your information here are the original questions from the
virtual cache. You don't need to answer these questions to find the
cache. Do not send these answers to me.
1. What was the Month, Day and Year of the expected Southern
drive? This date is not on the monument. It is somewhere else at
the site.
2. What is the original name of this site?
3. What is the school and class that provided generous
assistance?
The original number three question was: What is the name of the
other Fort in this town?
