Geocache Description:

The Goring Gap is an interesting geological feature caused by the River Thames breaking through the hills and making its way to the sea east of London. The river runs from north to south here between the Berkshire Downs and the Chilterns.
Ample free parking is available at N51° 31.312’ W001° 09.651’. This can be accessed from the main Pangbourne to Streatley road (A417), turn on to the B4009 past The Bull Public House. Proceed up the hill until you reach the car park, which is well signed.
The cache is a small lunch box located 0.69 miles from the car park. Why not also attempt ‘The Holies’ cache which is on the way to ‘The Goring Gap’ cache. These caches are placed about 0.32 miles apart.
Both ‘The Goring Gap’ and ‘The Holies’ caches can be accessed by crossing the road opposite the car park and following the footpath signed The Holies. Follow this path downhill to a kissing gate and then uphill. ‘The Holies’ cache (which is a small micro) can be found adjacent to the path. To attempt the ‘The Goring Gap’ cache, continue along the path, which bends gently to the left and eventually through two kissing gates which open out into a field, with lovely views. Follow your GPSr to the cache. Continue on past the cache through another kissing gate for further stunning views of Goring, Goring Lock and the River Thames.
