Jonah's Quest Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Jango & Boba Fett: This was our very first cache and Boba and I spent several days walking around the route with Yoda the GeoHound checking and rechecking. The cache container has now gone so decided to archive this one away. Thanks for all the fun you've given us. Jango Fett

Geocache Description:

The coordinates are for Location A on your quest. You will have to solve six puzzles before you find the cache which is a 35mm film canister. The quest involves a 2.5km gentle stroll around two parks north of the city centre, suitable for children and buggies though old sea dogs are optional.

Jonah's Quest has a maritime theme and is based around two parks in the Victorian suburb of New Catton. It starts in Sewell Park which was gifted to the city in 1906 by the Philip Sewell the brother of Anna the author of Black Beauty. The second park is Waterloo Park which opened in 1932 and contains two of Captain Sandys-Winsch's nationally important Art Deco pavilions which have recently been renovated with lottery funding. Sewell Park is very dog friendly and the route will take you round one of Yoda the GeoHounds favourite walks.

Option 1 - on road parking or take No. 10 or 18 bus to the Elm Tavern then walk 100m north to Location A

Option 2 - use the carpark at Waterloo Park and start with Location C
Substitute the answer to the six questions to find the coordinates of the final cache.  Location F is a good place to stoke your victuals and quaff some grog before laying your course to the cache.
 52º 38.BEF' North
001º 17.CDA' East

A - Water water every where but not a drop to drink; read the full inscription on the fountain to find out why Sewell Park is the most dog friendly in the Norwich. A = the third numeral of the year of dedication of this fountain.

B - You can only get about 23m from this cetacean relic which was a gift from a former pupil of the Blyth Girls Grammar School who found it  on a beach. B = this Arabic numeral - 1; or B = 2 + this inverted Roman numeral.

C - As you walk east along Millcroft enjoy the view westward across to Waterloo Park. In the summer you may need to go paddling to answer this one. If whales = 2, then fish = C (only count whole fish).

D - Some mistake surely. D = the number of letters that must be transposed to correct the spelling of the original fast food.

E - The answer is in black and white. E = the number of letters in the adjective describing this means of maritime propulsion.

F - To answer this you must enter Leviathan's belly, you need to be about half a fathom away to count correctly. The Leviathan has been here since 1817 when Richard Sexton was the brewer and  F = the number of seagulls on the old pub sign.

G:UK cache rating
Check this sum on a beermat:
[(A+B)x(C-D)]/(E-F) = 20

Then enjoy your walk back to one of the parks.
