Warriors’ Overlook Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

vhasler: FYI for the four users watching this cache. After 60 finds over 3.5 years, this one is going into the history books. I discussed its fate with the park naturalist and we agreed that this area is no longer suitable for a quality hide. See more comments in the prior disable log.

Hopefully, one or two new caches will be approved for Warriors Path State Park as I had the containers and spots ready when the bureaucratic limit of three was imposed by a State of Tennessee official.

Life moves one... but to be renewed with other challenges.

Geocache Description:

A great overlook of the Holston River in Warriors Path State Park

This is my second cache within Warriors Path State Park. I have filled out the proper TN State "Organized Event" (2006 revision) paperwork with the naturalist Marty Silver and obtain state permission for six months. Currently approved through end of June 2009.

The cache use to be off the Overlook Trail, but is now relocated downstream to be completely away from the blue blazed trail per new state policy. This is a steep bluff overlooking the Holston River towards the I-81 bridge. The best trailhead is at the boat ramp, then up the jeep trail to the grove of trees. (Driving NOT allowed.)

The cache is a small round food storage container that was left in the Cub Scout Pack 387 storage area for a couple of years. While not the best cache containers, it has been usable and dry for the past year. Please hide exactly as you found so that others can have an equal, but easy, challenge in finding it.

11/2006 - relocated cache slightly to comply with new State of TN policy. Also opened up the cache to all members as we should not have a problem with too many visitors -- and it allows the park naturalist to read this cache page.
06/07 - TN approval until end of Nov 07.
12/07 - Naturalist says okay for existing cache to remain in park another six months.
6/08 - Naturalist says good for another 12 months. Unfortunately TN State Parks has a freeze on new caches due a few unregistered ones being hidden in other parks.
