Geocache Description:

A two stage journey to two very different locations with a virtual cache taking you to the final traditional cache.

An amazing and often 'underlooked' location for this virtual cache. The coordinates above are NOT the location of the cache, merely an indication of which county it is in to give you a starting point. You do not need to go there to solve the puzzle.

The virtual cache is accessible to all but not at all times. When you work out where you are going, when you can go will be obvious. The main cache is on very different terrain – you’ll need your boots and it’s not suitable for buggies.

Chapter 1

A jesters' tale...

A puzzle at the end of a riddle, a fairytale ending for an obscure journey.

In the lands of the north the jester danced as he watched the world.

'I'll hide my secret in the open where nobody will see' he sang.

'Five times round and then one more,' he laughed. His garish clothes shone in the low sun streaming through the window as he sang.

'No - five times round and three should do it!,' the jester sang, leapt and danced seemingly without point or rhyme or reason.

A weathered old cat that had been watching warily from close by showed speed and poise that belied its' years when the jesters' foot landed within a hairs breadth of its' tail. Ably demonstrating why he had retained all his nine lives the cat sprang nimbly on the nearest shelf, putting safe distance between himself and the jesters' size eights.

'One day,' hissed the jester, 'I'll break my neck and then you'll be stuffed!'. The cat.. merely.. stared.

As the Sun set in the west the jester stopped his antics and suddenly looked weary.

'I am tiring of this life,' he said, ' Of the 'It's behind yous' and the 'Oh yes it is's' and the 'Oh no it isnt's...'

'I want quiet and peace. It is time to retire, so i am off in search of my reward, my endless reward.'

'I have danced at the whims of others and it has all been as nought. I ask myself, what was it all for?, what was the point?'

'Now I shall go out in the world, for it is time i found my fortune.'

Never known as a man who hesitated in his decisions, he ran around the room gathering items and stuffing them in his sack. In five minutes he was ready and, with barely a pause, he headed out of the door.

'Follow me on my journey', he said 'and you will find a treasure that is truly worth seeing.'

'The last thing i can tell you is that my story tells you all you need to know but remember, don't ignore the six things you have already learned.'

And with that he turned away and the gathering darkness quickly swallowed him up.

When you think you are in the right place the following may help you...

Stand underneath me and my surroundings may make you feel weak... but find a way to stand over me and the truth i will speak.

Chapter Two.

Now that you have found me I may let slip the final place,
If you initially take the characters that run around my face.

Starting with a ruffled Jack, always follow time
And for your last two digits use five five to end this rhyme.

A1B6C0D0E8F6G2H6I7J2K9L0M5N4O7P4Q2R9S2T0U2V1W3X1Y9Z0

Everything I have told you thus far takes you west,
To see how far to travel north you must solve the final quest…

The number of digits on my left hand,
Followed by the square root of one.

Then the digits on my right hand,
Preceding… none.

To ascertain the final points and save you running round this nation,

Simply take 1271 from the date of my creation.

Now you can reach the final spot - a spell may help you reveal the final resting place of my treasure....

'Hedera Helix Occulto!'

Good luck & Good Hunting!.

Whilst you are at the virtual cache I am very interested in hearing your answer to the following riddle.

‘Can you reveal to me my masters name and the secret of the infinite gold?’

It took me a while to figure it out even when looking at it – you’ll know what I mean when you’re in the right place!

You do not need to answer this question to claim your find – simply finding the main cache and logging it will hopefully be fairly challenging.

Send me a message if you do work it out – or even if you don’t.

The final cache is a regular size ammo box with official Geocache stickers. It is VERY well hidden! Please replace it exactly as found and cover your tracks accordingly – beware of muggles…
