This one is dedicated to Gus. Gus spent the summers with his aunt,
and she lived next door to my parents, so Gus was my constant
companion all summer long during most of my childhood. I never even
knew his real name, but "Gus" was more adventuresome than the rest
of my friends. He was all about having maximum fun. Gus specialized
in mischief. Gus could do anything and his aunt would never tell
his parents. My parents always found out what we did instantly, so
I paid dearly for the fun I had with Gus.
I recently learned that Gus died last winter. Gus, this one's
for you.
