The Twin Ponds Nature Center, located 6 miles southwest of New Hampton, is operated by the Chickasaw County Conservation Board (CCCB). In addition to a nature center, the 157 acre park offers primitive camping, hiking, fishing, hunting and picnic shelters.
The Nature Center (1811 240th St, Ionia, IA 50645, 641-394-4714) is open Mon-Fri 8:00-4:30, and at other times by appointment. To locate the cache, park at the Nature Center and head north on trails that may be quite muddy. On the way, be on the lookout for chickadees and songbirds, hawks, deer and other wildlife. The cache is not hard to find, so use the hint only if necessary. This cache is registered with the CCCB and is located in an area where hunting is allowed. During hunting seasons it's probably wise to wear some blaze orange clothing. Like all of CCCB's parks, Twin Ponds is a CITO (Cache In Trash Out) area, so let's leave the park even cleaner than we found it!
