The Geogarden – Where Little Caches Go to Grow Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ohjoy!: This little cache has not grown for many months. It's an idea that was fun, but no longer serves a purpose. Recent reports of homeless people living in the area also concern me.

Watch for the last geo-sprout - coming nearby soon.

Geocache Description:

When I placed “The Little Cache That Grew???” in this spot, it was purely for fun. As it turned out, people enjoyed the idea and some asked that I keep the concept going. So, as promised, I archived the original Little Cache and placed that regular-sized cache in a new location by Moxlie Creek. And then I placed a new micro in the same spot and came up with a new name/concept thanks to input from geogold.

NEEDED BEFORE IT CAN BE TRANSPLANTED: anything and everything! (please do not take items out of the cache at this point - no trades until it has been transplanted. thanks)

Q: How long will this cache be here?
A: It is a permanent cache garden. Microcache seeds will be given the opportunity to grow and as each one reaches regular size and gets trade items and a log book, I will replace it with another microcache seed and transplant the grown geoplant into a new location.

Q: Will I be able to log a new find each time a regular size geoplant is replaced with a microcache seed?
A: No, but you may revisit the geogarden and help any microcache seed grow to geoplant size. In other words, if you want me to plant a new cache, all you have to do is turn a microcache seed into geoplant size. (I may live to regret this!)

Q: Must I make a change to the cache in order to log my find?
A: No, all you need to do is sign your name to log a find, BUT please do not remove things from the cache. You may add things, but until it is transplanted, it is not a trading cache, so take nothing.

Q: If I replace any part of the growing geoplant, what should I do with the part I replaced?
A: You may either keep that part for yourself or leave it in the cache for future use in the geogarden.

Q: The coordinates seem to bounce a lot. What can I do?
A: The HUGE stump is the wrong one. You should be able to easily reach the top of the LARGE stump which is east of the huge one and closer to the fence of the P&R lot. If you get better coordinates at the correct spot, PLEASE post them. Over time I'll average them and post them on the cache page.

Q: Is there anything else I should do if I help the geoplant grow?
A: Explain any changes in your found log (or note if it is a return visit) so that I can update the following answers.

Q: How will I know what kind of container I am looking for?
A: Check right here for the current status of the cache:

>> On 11/17/06 sprout #4 was transplanted and geocache seed #5 was planted. It is now a micro near the top of the stump.

Q: What does it need at this point?
A: Everything! - larger container, contents, log book, pen and/or pencil.

Q: (from Shop99er November 26) Where is the best place to park?
A: Many have been approaching the cache from the local P&R, but it may be full and it also means climbing over a fence. I approach it by parking behind the movie theatre, climbing up the low concrete wall, and heading along the fence to the cache.
