This is another of cache located at what was one of the Army Air Bases that were built in the early part of WWII in Nebraska. It is located northeast of Harvard, NE and occupied about 1700 acres.
During its peak thousands of men were training with B17s, B24s and B29s before the crews headed to the European and Pacific theaters. Harvard Army Air Field was declared surplus property on May 21, 1946 and was eventually taken over by the State of Nebraska who it belongs to at this time.
Some runways have been removed and the excess land has been sold. There are still some chimneys from the original buildings. There is only one of the original hangers left and it is located a short distance from this cache location.
Permission to place this cache has been granted.
