An easy, peaceful 1 mile hike through the Bushy Hill Nature Preserve. The first stage is on the way to the final cache. The preserve is located off of Bushy Hill Road in Ivoryton, CT. Parking and trail head at N41 20.683 W072 27.689
All of the trails loop around, so no bushwacking is necessary. Both stages are within 20 feet from the trail. The first stage is an inverted plastic butter container holding the coordinates to the final cache. (Please replace it upside down.) The cache is a 30 cal. ammo box filled with the usual trinkets. TIME SAVER HINT: At the first fork in the trail bear right. Please rehide both stages as found or better. The local nature center frequents this site often with kids in the summer.
Who is Lonesome Bob, you ask? Legend has it, he was a nuclear physicist who decided to up and quit his job one day. He headed to the nature preserve to live and call it a home with his old dog, Buster. He didn't heed the sign at the entrance and broke many of the rules. He cut trees, made camp fires, hunted for dinner, picked all kinds of plants, and worst of all he littered! While no one has actually ever seen Lonesome Bob, there's certainly evidence of his presence within the preserve... at least that's what we tell the kids. ;)
Enjoy the preserve and if you could clean up after Bob, that would be a big help!
