Geocache Description:

This simple, and short multi takes you on a walk through the Sturgeon River Tract of the Simcoe County Forest to a view of rapids in the Sturgeon river gorge.

The cache will take you near the Sturgeon River with just a little very easy bushwhacking off the trail. The coordinates take you stage 1 where you will find the coordinates for stage 2 and a hint. (Bring a pencil and paper to write them on). There is no reason to descend down to the river for either stage. You can just overlook the river.

If you want to go to the river edge you can go a bit further down the main trail and take the winding but steep trail down or you could go to N44 42.454 W079 42.910 and you will come to a gully through which you can bushwhack (not hard) down a fairly easy slope to the river edge. Not recommended in spring or winter though.

Parking is at N44 42.672 W079 42.776. There are two entrance signs to the Tract but the other is not good to use for this cache.

Note: Dec. 14,2005- updated coords for stage 1 thanks to updates from Vaughn Firefighter and Juicepig which moves the coords about 20m from previous ones. Its a hard location to get a fix but this seems to be getting closer. Anyone who has alternates please send them to me and we'll get it as accurate as we can.
