Geocache Description:

Well, sort of a covered bridge.

Covered bridges are very plentiful in New Brunswick, but they are few and far between in Nova Scotia. I often cross this bridge while out walking in the park and decided it would be a good location for a cache.

Located in Victoria Park in Truro- a wonderful park full of trails, waterfalls, bridges, elevation changes, and even a few geocaches to give you a reason to hike, as if the trails, waterfalls, bridges and elevation changes were not enough of a reason to hike. The park was a military installation 200 years ago and helped in defending Canada during the Fenian raids during the war of 1812. Troops were trained here and marched into New Brunswick to fight the Fenians crossing the border from Maine. Since 1888, it has been a natural woodland park that now encompasses roughly 400 acres in the centre of town. Lepper Brook, with its two sets of waterfalls, flows through a steep tree covered rocky gorge. The park boasts interesting geological formations in the gorge and river bed area, and beautiful stands of hard and softwood trees, particularly hemlock, on the cliffs and uplands.

The cache is located just off one of these trails near the covered bridge. There are several places to park, depending on how much time you want to spend in the park. The main parking area is at the end of Park St. You can get closer to this cache by driving to the top of Wood St. but you will be farther from the other caches in this wonderland.

The tree cover may make your GPSr go a little wacky, but look in all the likely places and you will be rewarded.

BEWARE!! MUGGLES ARE ABOUT!
