The challenge
was to hide as large a container as possible, get as many finds
as quickly as possible and for the cache to avoid getting
muggled. Here's my entry.
The cache is a 20L pail with a screw-top lid...just press-in the
little lever while opening. Make sure the lid goes back on evenly
and don't over-tighten it. I spray-painted the bucket for
camouflage but alot of it scratched off in the bush, so please try
to re-hide it as best you can. I am uncertain how waterproof the
bucket is so individual items (that were small enough) were bagged
separately. There are extra bags inside for your trades if
needed.
The location is in the ravine on the west side of Buena Vista
Meadow. Only light bushwhacking is required to reach the hiding
spot. There are two separate trails leading down from street
level:
(1) If you park at N53 31.156 W113 33.256, there is initially a big
step down, then the trail's slope is gentler than for the other
trailhead.
(2) If you park at N53 31.088 W113 33.205, the trail is a little
steeper but also a little more direct.
Kids shouldn't have too much trouble on this hunt, but since this
is an off-leash area, be careful if anyone in your party is afraid
of dogs (or what they leave on the ground!). As an incentive, there
are FTF prizes (McDonald's certificates) for the first three
children who find the cache.
Have fun, and will someone please notice the irony
concerning the logbook?
