Geocache Description:

Short walk to cache on mowed grass.

Ellis Township / Nevada - Unmarked Grave - Legend says that a woman was thrown from a train to her death. The people of Ellis performed a small funeral and buried her near the tracks. The site is maintained today and there are flowers on the unmarked rock grave. Rumors state that the area is haunted. The television show Unsolved Mysteries did a small segment about the suspected identity of the woman.

The cache is a camouflaged 5 x 4 cylinder with a few items to trade. Original items include sets of earplugs, die cast cars, box of paper clips, and a small LCD video game. Railroad tracks north of cache have been unused for the last several years.

**Permission given from the caretakers of the site.

- Following information supplied by Magfive.
IN APRIL OF 1877 A MAN AND WOMAN THAT APPEARED TO BE HIGH CLASS GOT OFF A PASSENGER TRAIN IN ELLIS. SOME LOAFERS NOTICED THE COUPLE SEEMED TO BE FIGHTING. ON APRIL 21 WORKMEN FOUND THE BODY OF A GIRL IN THE GRASS BESIDE THE TRACKS, NO TRACE THE HER MALE COMPANION. IT IS BELIEVED THAT HE GOT BACK ON THE TRAIN AND CONTINUED ON WEST. THE BODY HAD EITHER A SHOTGUN WOUND OR WOUND FROM A REVOLVER, (I FOUND ARTICLES STATING BOTH) ONE SOURCE STATED THE BODY WAS MANGLED AS IF HIT BY A TRAIN, NO ONE KNOWS FOR SURE. THE BODY WAS NEVER IDENTIFIED OR CLAIMED SO THE RAILROAD WORKERS BURIED HER BY THE TRACKS, THE IDENTITY OF THE FEMALE 18 TO 20 YEARS OLD STILL REMAINS UNKNOWN THE GRAVE WAS TENDED TO FOR YEARS BY RAILROAD EMPLOYEES THEN AFTER THE TRAIN STOPPED COMING THROUGH THERE WAS STILL FRESH FLOWERS AND CUT GRASS AROUND THE GRAVE NO ONE KNOWS FOR SURE WHO WAS TAKING CARE OF IT. ONE ARTICLE HAD SOURCES THAT BELIEVED THE NAME OF THE PERSON WAS LULA KING FROM INDIANA BUT WAS NEVER PROVEN. THE MOST FAMOUS GUESS WAS THAT IT WAS THE GRANDMOTHER OF GENEVA FUCHSER OF NEBRASKA, THAT IS THE ONE THAT WAS ON UNSOLVED MYSTERY BUT THE BEST I CAN TELL THE GRAVE WAS THERE 30 YEARS BEFORE THE GRANDMOTHER DISAPPEARED.
