Hobart-Hobart TransPacific Multi-cache Part A Multi-Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Balayang: ### Cache Maintenance Visit Required please.###
This geocache has been brought to my attention as needing an Owner Maintenance visit, as the logs indicate that it is most likely missing, or else some other problem exists with the cache. See the GCHQ Health Score process.
It certainly needs to be checked by the Cache Owner.

The cache owner needs to:

  • Take action to restore the cache or address issues such as correcting the D/T rating, or the posted coordinates.
  • Re-enable the cache by posting an Enable log
  • Post an Owner Maintenance log to advise what has been done and to clear any Needs Maintenance attribute that is present.

Otherwise :
* Post a Note Log to request more time if necessary or provide other information.
**Do not use an Owner Maintenance log for this. That is for use only when you actually do something to repair the cache.

Alternatively:

  • Archive the cache and remove any remaining geo-litter from the site.

In the meantime, I've temporarily disabled the cache page to await owner action by Snuva and to take it off the playing board to prevent further inconvenience to our Geocaching Community.

Please see the maintenance section of the Geocache Hiding Guidelines.

I will check back in 30 days to see that action has been taken by the CO.
If nothing has happened, I will conclude that the cache has been abandoned, and, unfortunately, I will need to Archive this cache.
Caches archived because of lack of maintenance/abandonment will not be unarchived.

The Geocaching Community needs to have a degree of certainty that a cache is in good condition and waiting to be found, and the CO has a responsibility to maintain their caches.

Please see my profile page for additional information.
Thank you

Geocache Description:

Not long ago I received an email from my good friend noreply (he sends me several emails every day!) saying that FunnyNose was contacting me. Fine! Great! Who’s that? New Hobart cacher? Not quite. . .

FunnyNose is a Washington state based geocacher. While making a FTF attempt on Tiger Mountain, he passed through an area called Hobart, nestled in the the foothills of the Cascade Mountains 20 miles SW of Seattle. Being in the planning stages of a trip Down Under that will include a Christmas visit to Hobart, FunnyNose decided a cooperative multi-cache was in order! And I think a cooperative cache between these two areas is entirely appropriate. They have the Cascade Mountains; we have the Cascade Brewery. They have Tiger Mountain; we had the Tassie tiger (until they became extinct. . .perhaps), and well, both Hobarts have post offices.

At the Tasmanian end, there are 2 caches. First is this multi that will take you to a micro. The micro has a log for you to sign as well as half the information needed for the local Hobart cache and half the information for a cache in Hobart, WA, USA.

This might prove helpful for writing down the information you are collecting:
A B C D E F G H I

To find this micro cache, go to the coordinates listed and find the following information:

This stone was laid by His Royal Highness, The Duke of Cornwall & York on A/B/CDEC (format D/ M/YYYY for those foreign types!)

How many V is the TC Cable? FGE

How many minutes walking are you from the museum? (According to the brown sign.) H

And I = D-A

Then use simple substitution to find the micro cache at South GF° HI.EBI by East CGB° FE.EBD

If you would like to continue on your quest, you will also need to write down the Hobart, TAS and the Hobart, WA information and go to the Hobart-Hobart TransPacific Multi-cache Part B.

Congratulations to the Cheesy Pigs for getting FTF on this one! AT A special award ceremony that took place at the Taste on 1 January 2006, they were presented with their FTF prizes for this cache and Part B, two Washington State Geocaching geocoins. These coins were very kindly provided by FunnyNose!
