Geocache Description:

Located at Waseeka Wildlife Refuge on the Holliston/Hopkinton Line. Parking is off of Mill St/Clinton St at N 42' 12.963, W 071' 27.867. The gate at the parking area is very narrow and the parking area is big enough to hold about 6 cars.

The sanctuary features a secluded pond that harbors interesting wildlife at different times of the year. Have your binoculars or spotting scope ready when you cross the dam because it offers a great view of the pond. Take a walk on the one-mile trail where you may see great blue herons, spotted sandpipers, kingfishers, bluebirds, otters, and mink. The sanctuary is highlighted with color in the summer and fall when its orchids and wildflowers are in bloom.
The website says you have to pay to enter the area, but there is no method of doing so and the locals go there daily for walks and outings with their dogs etc...
Cache is 0.22 miles from Parking Area. Stay on trail to the right after heading out by the kiosk and getting to the fork. Check out the pond there, lots of birding to do in the area!!

Watch out for muggles and keep cache well hidden please.

NOTE: 1/4/06
There are signs at the refuge that the trails are closed, and their website says the same thing.

I recieved this e-mail today:

"Due to damming of the pond and drainage culvert by beavers trails around the pond are flooded. The small field before the dam is currently the drainage area for the pond so access to the dam is hindered. You are able to walk the upland portions of the trails which are not flooded but you will have to return via the same route and it probably would not take a great deal of time. You can still visit the sanctuary for hiking/snowshoeing but it would be very limited. The flooding conditions may very well continue to mid-summer when the pond usually becomes shallower. Hopefully at this time we will be able to resolve this issue later this year."

Just be careful, and bring good boots! =)
