Pocket Park #5 -- Local Attraction Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

MadMin: I attempted to contact the owner of Pocket Park #5 - Local Attraction to find out about the status of this cache in March, 2011. I have received no response from the owner on the cache page or via email. Because of that I'm afraid I have to archive this cache.

I will be more than happy to review this cache again and (hopefully) reinstate it once you have corrected any issues with the cache. please contact me via ma.reviewer@gmail.com to do so.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page places it through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

This is the fifth in the Pocket Park series, which is a series of log-only caches designed to bring you to less-visited parks in the Boston area. This one brings you to an oft-overlooked but lovely memorial very near the USS Constitution in Charlestown.

The centerpiece of this little park adjacent to the Navy Yard is a moving memorial to the members of our Armed Forces who fought in the Korean War (N42.22.464 / W071.03.214). Stepping into the memorial or pressing the buttons near the benches will bring the voices of Korean War veterans to your side, recalling moments of courage, fear, friendship, and even humor.

The cache is located some distance away, out of respect for the memorial. However, since it's the real reason we're placing the cache here, please either (1) post a picture of some part of the memorial or (2) email us the number of circular seals carved below the word "Korea."

A few will find this log-only cache easily. Others will require a bit more persistence and perhaps even a flash of insight. Please use good sense: You do NOT need to open the nearby object which should obviously not be opened by laymen.

We also urge you to spend a little time here. The harbor walk has super skyline views and one of Boston's space-age coin-operated public toilets, and there's an amphitheater to romp in, a playground for the kids, and the history of the USS Constitution all within sight of the cache and memorial! Enjoy!
