This
5-stage offset will run you around the small, historic
town of Albion. You will be using the projection feature
on your GPSr.
If you don't know
how to use the projection feature, investigate it before you
attempt this cache.
Make sure your GPSr
is set to magnetic north mode (see Dec 26 note or photo link
below)
You will not be
given coordinates to the next waypoint, but rather a bearing and
distance.
You will then
"project" your next waypoint. A calculator would be helpful
too. Enjoy!
Stage
1
Follow the given
coordinates to the first waypoint. When you arrive you will
find a sign.
Note the year
established and call it ABCD.
Your next bearing is ADB degrees. Follow if for 0.DC miles to
Stage 2.
Stage
2
When you arrive at
Stage 2 you will find a sign. Note the year it was
built.
Divide the year by
6.2251655 to get the next bearing.
Follow this bearing for 0.64 miles to Stage 3.
Stage
3
The projection you
followed here will get you within about 30 feet of Stage
3.
Find the tallest
object within 30-40 feet . That's your
target.
Note the years
of the war and rebellion.
Add the digits of
the first year to get "XX".
Add the digits of
the second year to get "YY".
XX + YY =
ZZ
Follow a bearing of 094 degrees for 0.ZZ miles to get to Stage
4.
Stage
4
When you arrive you
will find two signs.
One of the signs
has a three-digit "sign number" printed in
green.
Subtract 37 from
the sign number to get the next bearing.
Divide the sign
number by 1224 to get the next mileage.
Follow this bearing and distance to get to Stage
5.
Stage
5
You made
it!
You just got the
Albion Run Around.
You are looking for
a small altoids tin.
It is a log only
cache, bring your own pencil.
Hints
will be very specific until I can see that the waypoints are
accurate.
Don't
look until you've tried your projection.
Let me
know if you think they are off.
