277m NE of Harveys (Tantangara) hut.
Cache is a 1 liter rectangular container, original treasure includes AM/FM radio, super glue, light key chain and carabiner/compass keychain. The cache should be accessable in winter but you may have to dig through snow to get at it. It's best to walk in from the Snowy Mountains Hwy. Park the car at S 35 53.073 E148 31.082, just before the bridge. Service track goes for about a km then its off track all the way. Walk in should take no more than 75 min. This can easily be done as a day walk or you can stay overnight. Great hut!! OR alternativley you can access the hut from Sawyers Hill rest stop on the Snowy Mountains Hwy. drive in the Rocky plains road and park immediately behind the horse loading ramp. Walk up the hill in front, following the power poles. turn right along the ridge and where the track branches, take the left route, around the hill (crossing a creek about 50 m onwards). After walking around the hill to an obvious saddle, turn right and walk up the valley to the hut. The hut is at S 35 52.380 E 148 33.427 It is possible to ski into the hut during winter. An excellent trip, the hut has a wonderful pot belly stove and is stocked with wood.
