Geocache Description:

The cache is an ammo can located just a rock scramble away from the trail to the summit of Gaskill Peak.

Gaskill Peak rises to an elevation of 3836 feet. It is about one mile north of Lawson Peak, which has an elevation of 3660 feet. This cache has a view of both peaks as well as Barrett Lake and the Horsethief Canyon Wilderness Area to the east.

You can get to the cache from the trailhead near " Lyons Valley Roadside Distraction," or approach from the north via a Forest Service Road that starts at N°32 44.814 W°116 41.736 off Carveacre Road which goes south from Japatul Valley Road.

A gate has been installed across this road off Carveacre that leads up to the Forest Service road, so it is no longer possible to drive up the road and over to Lyons Valley Road as you once could, if you had a high clearance, well-equipped 4WD vehicle. The trailhead to the peak is located at N°32 44.268 W°116 42.811.
