Down a moderate trail nature trail, no big elevation changes but trees, roots uneven ground.
This cache is placed in the West Gardiner woods on the Nature Trail by the local Boy Scout Troop. The Trails were forged as an Eagle Scout project by the Troop years ago and several Eagle projects have added features such as a Kiosk and signposts. The Troop still does trail maintenance and camps out in there at least a couple times a year. There are some nice walking trails and not often do you see folks using them which is too bad. The Scouts have put together a nice ammo box cache with some Scouting supplies and other articles along the Scouting theme that we hope folks might find handy. Keep to the theme or add your own treasures, it's all good. We started it off with a couple travel bugs, one of our own plus one or two more and a geocoin that we hope have some great new adventures. Park near the Kiosk at N 44 13.483 W 069 52.673
Additional Note! Another Eagle Project has provided a map of the trail system! If the Town Office is open (next to the Fire Station), there are maps there (free) and also at Fuller's Market on Hallowell-Litchfield Rd. There will be another Project coming up to re-do the trail entrance gate and kiosk. We hope to provide a box with maps for hikers there eventually.
