To find the trailhead, park at Montalvo and follow the Orchard trail to N37°14.552 W122°02.122.
From this junction, go straight over the logs and past the sign post. This is where you leave Montalvo's official trails. Continue up the hill until you reach a dirt road, then turn left. You do not need to leave this trail to access the cache.
The cache itself is a small army decon container. It should be fairly easy to find, but I've added a hint because the tree cover makes it difficult to get a good fix on the coordinates. You do NOT need to leave the trail. It contains two pencils, a log book, and some little trade goodies. FTF prize is a new unregistered travel bug tag. Please send me a link if you make this into a new travel bug!
Notes:
Good shoes are a necessity for this hike! There may be some poison oak on this trail, so be prepared. Also, please careful of mountain bikers that may be coming down this trail.
If you are feeling adventurous, you can also visit my Montalvo Deathmarch cache at the top of this trail!
This cache can be accessed from Villa Montalvo County Park.
Park hours are 8AM-5PM weekdays and 9AM-5PM weekends.
