Geocache Description:

30m from end of good forest track. In natural woodland. Elevation approx. 240m. Fairly easy mountain bike ride or hike. On the NE slopes of Beinn Gullipen (the one with the mast on top). Cache at NN 60980 05355.

*apologies for lack of maintenance, I no longer live in the area.

This cache lies to the south-west of the the Perthshire town of Callander. It takes advantage of a re-newed track leading through recently felled forest. Cache lies just 30m or so from the end of a forest track. Major turnings/junctions have been marked with a small cairn (there are only two).

Start of track lies at NN 628074, which is just 50m or so SE of the mini roundabout at the south end of Bridgend. Parking may be found in town (maybe !) or a wee layby just 100m or so up the Invertrossachs road (turn right at roundabout if coming from town)or try the McLaren Sports Centre a further 200m up the road (heading south)....

Follow track roughly SW, stay left at a Y junction, continue uphill, past a stone wall, at a second wall the new track gives way to an older grassier track. Left at a T junction, right at a Y junction, then right (west) at the next junction.... follow to end of track...then walk the rest. Easy.

Interesting notes from Callander.
The last person to be imprisoned for witchcraft was a Helen Duncan, from this Parish....in World War Two !

The Falls of Leny is a well known landmark just North of town....but there is no actual River Leny....the Leny refers to the narrow pass, the river is actually the Garbh Uisge (or rough water in anglo).

Perhaps the oldest neolithic site ever found in the UK lies just east of town... an application to quarry the site is currently under consideration !

The Highland Boundary Fault cleaves right through the town...Callander Crags clearly show the line of the SW-NE trending fault line. This cache here lies on top of it too.

Once you find the cache, take a wee stroll slightly down the hill into the narrow glen below, the burn here follows a natural fault in the rock, and looks right purty.

Strap yourself in for a quick ride back down into town...good spots to go for a coffee perhaps would include Deli Ecosse (Ancaster Square, by the Rob Roy Centre) or upstairs at CCW (outdoor store), and for the traditional fare, Fiery Cross or the 'new' Ben Ledi Cafe (chippers both).
