Geocache Description:

Swift's Silver Mine

The legend of Swift's Silver Mine is of local lore with varying accounts and locations along the central Appalachian mountains. Several accounts place the mine somewhere along the Guest River on Stone Mountain. This cache is named to celebrate this folk legend, and the rich culture from which it comes.

Located off U.S. Forest Service Rt. 2020 in Tacoma with a very enjoyable and picturesque walk along Burns Creek.

Once you reach the upper bend, the gravel road must be abandoned and the old original road bed should be used. It is passable, but minor bushwhacking might be required in warmer weather.

Cache is a small container, suitable for smaller items and travel bugs.

Happy Caching!
