"HAPPY NEW YEAR"
to all our GeoCaching Friends.
This is our New Years gift to all of you.
The cache is a replacement for one of the same name that disappeared awhile ago. The area deserves a cache and since we were the last to find the old cache back in July '05, we felt it would be right to place a new cache up here. The cache is placed about 50' from where the last cache was. It's hiding place is much better and the container is just like the one I placed up near Mt. Langley, (GCQHW1).
During the warm months, rattlesnakes HAVE been seen right at the cache area. So use caution. Before you reach in or under anything, use a stick to probe the area first and then double check the area. Evening hikes may find snakes on the fire road.
The trip to and from the cache is about 5 miles. Bring water and a snack/lunch to enjoy at the benches while at the overlook.
Please rehide the cache exactly where you find it and make sure the container is sealed tight!! I hope this cache will survive the elements of mankind better than the last.
In the cache I have started it off with a "Save the Seals" button; "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires" magnet; 50 cents; "Luke Lathan's Keys" TB and a Log. It will hold small trade items only!!
Cache Update: 10-12-07
The cache has been moved slightly. Do Not trample the plants near GZ. There is a small path that one can reach the cache from. DO NOT go in large groups to GZ. It will ruin the area. Treat the cache as if it were yours. Please hide it exactly the way you found it. That way, hopefully the cache will last a long time. It is very much in an open area. The area can be very busy on a nice day. Thank you!!
"Hike Smart & Hike Safe"!!!
Once again, Happy New Year to All!!
