Geocache Description:

A nice cache with great views on the hill above Langbank. The ground can be a wet in winter.

Parking at Langbank railway station.

The Langbank Lion Cache is held in a blue-lidded plastic food box. It contains the Langbank Lion, which should not be removed from his Den. The intial cache contains a log book, 2 toy cars, globe keyring, silver keyring, plastic scorpion, Skype headphones, white pen, golf tee and a plastic paperclip.

The aim of the cache is to gather Lions, Tigers, Leopards, Lynx and other cats. Visiting travel bugs are most welcome, especially of the feline variety. Remember to bring your camera for a picture, and there’s some great views to be seen.

To begin the hunt for the Langbank Lion, its best to start at the bottom of the village and park/arrive at the Railway station. From there you can go two ways. Either, along the Main Road, or by the forest path. The forest path is more fun, with rabbits and squirrels frequently to be seen. To get to the forest path, head up to the railway station and over the footbridge, then head westerly along the platform(southern side), you’ll find a gap in the fence with a couple of steps which takes you onto the path. There’s the football pitch on the left, normally to be found full of rabbits and also the Langbank millennium cairn. Follow the path through the wood and up the stairs and on up the hill winding your way up to the top of Langbank.

There are two ways on to the hill where the cache is hidden. The first is from Lithgow Avenue, via a wooden gate at the end. The second is via the Right of Way, off of Middlepenny Place. The hill is used by many of the inhabitants of Langbank for walks, but there is normally sheep wandering around, if you have a dog, put a lead on. Once your on the hill, the hunt begins.

Happy hunting.
