Geocache Description:

Water

Water is considered to be the fourth element, symbolized by the color blue and the western point on a compass. Water is fluid, accepting and tolerant. Water overcomes difficulties by flowing around them, instead of head-on confrontation. Water brings tears of joy and tears of sorrow. It is love, compassion, empathy, the quality of mercy. It is the sea, dreaming and broody. It unites others but can overwhelm them. Water has the power of erosion – it can wear away rock. It can wear away opposition. The power of Water can overcome all things. Water can be a deep well of knowledge – the knowledge that comes from meditation and getting in touch with the deepest part of ourselves. Water cleanses and purifies, representing our search for the secrets of life and death. Running water symbolizes the unending cascade of spiritual energy. Water, symbolic of the Great Mother, is associated with birth and transformation. When we invite Water into our lives, we are seeking the fountain of life and the source of all things. In folklore, deep waters represent the depths of the human soul, the subconscious, and sometimes the realm of the dead. In Celtic mythology, Water was the gate to the Otherworld. The Celts also associated Water with a return to the source. In the Greek culture, morning dew collected as the sun rises, was thought to hold the magic of moonbeams on Earth, and was used to bless one’s eyes as a medicinal aid for vision difficulties. Studies of European antiquities tell us that moving and especially salt water could wash away all evil spirits, hence its inclusion in most recipes for holy water. In Egypt, water was thought to wash away the sins of one’s ancestors. The consecration of water to extend purification and blessings do not belong to Catholicism alone – ancient Egyptian, Sumer, Hindu, Greek and Roman (to name a few) used it too.

This is the first cache in our Elemental Series. If you’ve enjoyed this one, please look for the four others. We named this cache New Beginnings to represent many things. This is our first cache placement, we placed it on New Year’s Day and we recently purchased a new home in this town. Its very relaxing here and we could just sit for hours and listen. We could not pass up placing a cache here, it’s just a gorgeous little spot and in a surprising place (some cachers might even consider it a roadside cache)!

This site is screaming for a Cache In ~ Trash Out Event, but due to the logistics would prove to be difficult. If you are able, please try and help us remove some of the debris that has collected here. Most of it seems to be construction waste and rather large items.

This is a regular sized cache with room for smaller trade items. Due to the nature of the cache, we request that you leave swag that’s blue or that relates in some way to water. There is parking very close to the area for 4WD or a lot across the street is available.
