Domestic Station 2 Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

blunoz: I went out today to relocate this one. The cache is destroyed and would require considerable work to put it back together, so I couldn't just relocate it. Given the number of times this one has been muggled, I decided it's just time to archive this one.

Geocache Description:

The cache IS NOT AT THE COORDINATES LISTED. It is a medium sized gladlock container of suitable size for most travel bugs.

Listing Updated 12/15/2006: I significantly changed the puzzle to make it a LOT simpler, so hopefully people won't feel so intimidated about it and this cache will get more visitors.

Since the original Domestic Station cache was bulldozed, I decided to replace it with a larger cache in a slightly more challenging hide with a quick research puzzle to solve. The cache is not far from the original Domestic Station cache, but you will need to answer the questions and do the calculations below to get the actual coordinates.

The container is a medium sized gladlock container wrapped in camoflage duct tape.

There is more than one way to approach the cache location. On my way to place it, I took one way that looked like I might get wet in the progress, but was otherwise fairly clear of brush. Coming out, I took a different path where I wouldn't get wet, but ended up drawing blood from a couple of thorns catching my hands and clothes. You might be able to take children with you if you approach from the right (or rather LEFT) direction.

The coordinates listed are for a large store just off Exit 6 from the Dulles Greenway. To determine the coordinates of the cache, answer the following questions:

Cache coordinates:
N 39-00.ABA
W077-29.CCD

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was first published in the year 1896 and included 12 companies.

In 1928, the DJIA was expanded to include A0 companies. It has held the same number of companies ever since then.

The company at the coordinates listed was founded in 19D8, became a publicly traded company as “HOMD” on the NASDAQ in 1981, and changed to “HD” on the NYSE in 198C.

This company’s stock was added to the DJIA in 199B, making it one of the thirty companies on the DJIA used to evaluate the health and trend of the U.S. economy.

I am happy to confirm the coordinates by email, or you can use the following link:

Special thanks to Bajaclan and 2Wheelin' for their prompt feedback on the initial posting.

My Garmin GPS 12XL was reading +/- 12 feet when I hit the "average" button to save the coordinates.
