The hike to the cache area is 6 - 7 miles round trip from the
North Falls. Just over three miles each way. The North Falls is
where you will park and get to the Perimeter Trailhead.
This hike is moderate; however, it has some steep areas and
might be considered near-difficult in the winter months when
portions of the dirt trail flood - bring those waterproof
hikers.
The cache is hidden at a trail crossing - where the Parimeter
Trail meets the Racken Ridge Trail and a fire road. See Silver
Falls map.
Once you reach the crossing, the cache is behind the big Douglas
Fir directly opposite the trail map sign. This is a gimme, as we
wouldn't want anyone thrashing around off the trail. You're looking
for an ammo can. I have also supplied a small hint if you still
have trouble.
I think you will enjoy the natural beauty of this hike,
especially of you have never explored this part of Silver
Falls.
