Geocache Description:


There is a 13 hectare large nature conservation area near to Kishartyán where the sediment of on oligocen-sea can be found.

The interesting form of the yellow-brown sandstone came into existence at the costs of a 30 million years ago existed sea.

Approach: In Kishartyán on the road nr. 22 turn to direction Nógrádmegyer. After 1 km you reach the church at the outskirts of the village. Here at south end of the cementary there is an access road which leads directly under the nature spectacle, which can be found next to farm. You can park your car here, and next to the buiding climb up to the top of the hill. Be careful, because it can be slippery!

About the cave:
In the steep side of the 300 meter long and 30-40 meter high protected stonewall a cave can be found. Probably the water cut holes in the loose sediment, and after that people have shaped the cave during the early centuries of the Hungarian history. Until the end 19. century hermits lived in the cave. The cave itself is 16-17 meter long and can be approached from below useing the stairs.
