My first cache was placed on Christmas day to honor the birthday
boy. Pay your respects at the chapel and light a candle in memorium
to those you've lost.
I have thought for a long time that a geocache should be placed in
this vicinity. My original plan for an elaborate multi-stage cache
changed once I realized that most Rocky Point travelers are
reluctant to extend their travel times... Instead, this cache will
only add about 30 minutes to your commute. You'll gain 150' of
elevation change in about 5 minutes. Visits near sunrise or sunup
will yield great views! It's very hot here during the summer
months. The slopes are extremely steep and slippery with the loose
and very sharp volcanic rock that forms these mountains. Small
kids, elders, and pets may want to wait this one out in the car.
Cache is a standard ammo can hidden slightly away from the obvious
place - so as to remain undiscovered... It is initially stocked
with the usual: pen, Log Book, pencil, calculator, super balls,
whistle, rain poncho, super glue, small figurine, playing cards,
Carl's Jr. star, several keychains, magnet, interlocking keychain,
nail clippers. Reviewer note on geocache maintenance: The cache
will be maintained by the owner although he is living too far he is
visiting this area several times per year.
