Geocache Description:

Cache is just over a mile(1.21) from the parking area, in a scenic spot on the trail. Area open during daylight hours. Consider that you will be hiking near the river where it is more windy, and dress accordingly. Not recommended on very cold days, or in the middle of summer when the bugs are bad. It should take the average person 30 minutes to reach the cache, as most people walk about 2.2 to 3 mph.

In my favorite part of the Palmyra Nature Cove. From the Jersey side: If you go to the tollbooth on the far right and tell them where you are going, they will let you through without paying a toll as you will need to drive under the Tacony-Palmyra bridge to reach the parking area. You cannot see that bridge from the cache however, but the Betsy Ross bridge is easily seen in full view. If you leave the cache at the time your GPS says it is sunset, you should be able to see the bridges light up in the distance and still have enough time to get back to your car, as it takes 30 minutes from sunset for it to become completely dark. You may see a fox in the parking area, as that is the time he comes out.

During hikes in the late summer, I have never seen so many deer at once, as I spied 2 different groups one day. Both groups were colored slightly different from the other and each numbered about a dozen or more. During another visit, I walked up on a mother deer and a baby no more than 2 feet tall. The mother deer froze, and the young one imitated it. I froze also and neither one seemed to see me, even though I was only about 15 feet away. Eventually they went back to feeding, but the young one copied it's mother's movements EXACTLY. If I made a slight noise the mother would turn it's head one way, and the baby would do the same. If the mother ducked her head down a certain way, the baby would do the exact same. I watched this little game of simon sez for a while until I couldn't stand it no more and let out a loud laugh and scared them both off.

The cache should be an easy find. When I hid this in Aug, I was concerned that the final part may flood, so I didnt post it right away, and went back and checked it a few times. It should be alright. If it is flooded, the cache will be ok, but access won't be easy.

Check the tidal charts before you go link

New note: This cache is near the final stage of the Bridge of Khazad-Dum. It is a great multi and I recommend doing it. I am also mentioning it, because it will be an awful long walk if you do this one first and then attempt to do that one. (like I did, when I recently checked on this) Start that cache first and then pick up this one on the way. Have fun!
