The Sumas Cemetery Association was originally formed to purchase 3
acres of land in June 1891. Around the turn of the century, Sumas
IOOF Lodge No. 85 assumed control and on September 6, 1923
purchased about 5 acres as an addition to the cemetery. Date of the
earliest death is Melvina M. Nims on February 11, 1887. Cemetery
records are incomplete, especially for the early years.
(It's interesting to note that the street sign directing people
to the site has the word "cemetery" misspelled.

The cache container is a small orange plastic waterproof match
container. There is no need to climb on or disturb any vegetation.
Please park with care, be respectful, and cache in, trash out.
