Geocache Description:

Expand your horizon with this overview of the city of Weatherford from Harberger Hill.

A really great view exists from one of the highest points in town. If you never knew or realized that the city is in a valley this will prove it.

See how many landmark structures you can identify and get a perfect picture of the Parker County courthouse. Completed in 1886 of Parker County limestone, this second empire style courthouse is located in the geographical center of the county. If you go during the day, try to return another time at night to see the courthouse when lighted.

Parker County lies within three geographical regions. You are getting the clearest view of the Western Cross Timbers region running through the center of the county. The majority of trees you see are post oak (Quercus stellata) and blackjack oak (Quercus marilandica). Looking past the urban area you can glimpse the Rolling Plains of the western part of the county. This area is a rolling to rough terrain of mixed grasses and outcroppings of limestone, and can be seen as you drive out Mineral Wells Highway or Peaster Highway. The third region is the Fort Worth Prairie on the edge of the Grand Prairie. Head out Fort Worth Highway and I20 to the Parker County line - this last remnant of unspoiled prairie has become the devastated victim of sprawl, but you can see a rolling hill or two.
