The first phase of the trail leads to the Coconut Valley cache at N21 18.039 W157 44.512, so the terrain is the same up to that location.
From the Coconut Valley Cache site one trail continues up to Kulepiamoa Ridge to this cache. The other trail continues towards the back of Niu (Coconut) Valley. Standing at the bottom of the clearing by the boulders, and looking up towards Coconut Valley Cache, the trail up to the ridge is around to the right. It is quite steep at first, but then enters a guava tree forest where the trail is more moderate for awhile, but then gets very steep again.
Plastic "ammo can" in bushes near outcrop, a couple feet or less from alt. trail.
