Palmer Park Cache Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

rabbit cop: We never thought after 12 years of geocaching that it would come to this. We did a sad journey today checking some of our caches which a number of cachers said they couldn't find. Much to our surprise, we could understand why when we realized they had been stolen!!!!! We spent numerous hours trying to make a cache that folks would enjoy, sign the log, and put it back where you found it! We hope whoever took these caches can sleep at night. One of the caches had been replaced and had not been found and it is missing also. Thanks to all those people who found them, signed the log and put them back for the next geocacher. Rabbit Cops

Geocache Description:

Easy walk, no bushwhacking required

This park consists of 115 acres which was donated to the Boro of Donora in 1935 by the American Steel and Wire Company with the intent of making a park out of it. We obtained permission from the Boro of Donora to place this cache. It is a well maintained park with blacktop walking trails. This cache is dedicated to the many great sports figures who came from Donora, namely Stan "The Man" Musial who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Ken Griffey, Sr. who played for the Cincinnati Reds, and his son Ken Griffey, Jr. who is still playing, Deacon Dan Tyler who played for the Los Angeles Rams, Arnold Gallifa who played for West Point, Bimbo Cicconi who played for the University of Pittsburgh, and Lee Sala who was a middleweight champion boxer. My Uncle, Joe Barbao was the one who taught Stan Musial to play ball. He never failed to visit Uncle Joe any time he was playing in Pittsburgh. This cache is really a "Walk in the Park". This is an eight part cache plus the final. There is no bushwhacking required, you will only have to walk through two open fields. Use the walking trails no matter what your GPS shows. The park is open from sunrise until sunset. The park is dog friendly, there is a play area for children, at least four pavillions. Keep in mind this park is used heavily by walkers. You will have to use discretion to keep the hides safe. We walked this at least four times and had little trouble placing the cache. On occasion, we sat until the coast was clear. After finding the eighth hide, look for the split rail fence and follow the small trail up the hill.

This cache has magnetic personalities.
