Geocache Description:

This is a variation of the totally non-competitive sport/outdoor pursuit of HASHING. It was started originally by bored ex-pats. on the rubber plantations at Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia, in 1938 as a way of keeping fit, and developing a thirst!

They used to retire to the local restaurant called the Hash House, where copious amounts of alcohol was consumed to aid recovery- hence the participants called themselves Hash House Harriers-the Drinking Club with the Running Problem....
For further info on the activity see the website
www.cix.co.uk/bicesterh3/uk/hashing
Originally, a trail of flour or chalk was laid by the Hare who was pursued by the Hounds. This is a trail of 9 micro caches leading to the final cache. The first micro is at the above co-ords, and the co-ords of the next cache will be found on the reverse of the card inside the container(small plastic pot) Ditto for the other micros.(geddit?)Final cache is a small plastic box.
The route is along public footpaths, road, or Lyth Hill Country Park, so you will need the OS Explorer241, Shrewsbury map.Suggested parking place is at the first CP on Lyth Hill coming from Shrewsbury GR SJ 47750,07230
The course may be very muddy and rough in places with some easy ascents/descents.
Please ensure the containers are fully closed and UPRIGHT on replacement, and of course fully concealed.(BEWARE OF MUGGLES/GROCKLES)
For R&R I can recommend the Compasses Inn in Bayston Hill on the A49.
