A short stroll to view one of the Grahames of Claverhouse properties
Not much is known about John Grahames actual birth. There are no documents left, and historians and biographers have propopsed dates as far apart as 1643 and 1649. It is now believed however that he was born sometime between July and September 1648.
His place of birth is also a source of mystery. Many books name Glen Ogilvie as birthplace but a Dundee historian who we spoke to whilst researching these caches has stated that he believes that Mains Castle was the actual birthplace. It was certainly one of the families favourite residences.
When searching for the cache, look to the top of the graveyard, where you will see the grave of a 'cousin' of Bonnie Dundee - Clementina Grahame of Duntrune
There is a childrens playpark close to the castle - ideal for the bairns - young and old!
