Often when explaining Geocaching to someone the phrase
"High-Tech Treasure Hunting" is used. It is in the spirit of
treasure hunting that this cache has been placed.
The listed coordinates are NOT for
the cache itself!
Instead, you will explore this historical area while gathering
pieces of a clue that will help you find the cache. A calculator
may help. Attention to detail is a must!
This cache is accessible at only the following times (and
inaccessible on most holidays):
Monday - Thursday |
9:00am - 8:00pm |
Friday |
9:00am - 5:00pm |
Saturday (Non-Summer Hours) |
9:00am - 5:00pm |
Saturday (Summer Hours) |
9:00am - 2:00pm |
Please do not bother with trade items as they will not fit
(however there is a dollar bill for the FTF). Be sure to bring
your own writing instrument to sign the log.
Now onto the hunt!
You will need to visit a few locations to obtain the three
pieces that make up your clue.
"Part A"(consists of 3 numbers)
Go to: N 40°52.184 W
084°35.105
The first number is the square root of the last two numbers on the
sign. The second number is the year a law was enabled, minus the
year John passed away. Finally, subtract the year the library was
dedicated from the year the sign was dedicated. The rightmost
number is the third number.
"Part B"
Go to: N 40°52.156 W
084°35.115
Now divide the Watershed Area by the total number of creeks and
rivers. Count Carefully!
"Part C"
Go to: N 40°52.192 W
084°35.094
Take the last word of the sign and flip it backwards. Remove the
last letter.
Once you have all the pieces put them in this format (without
the brackets):
[Part A].[Part B] [Part C]
Good Luck!
This is a historical piece of Van Wert County. Please be very
respectful and if you have the time, further explore the history
surrounding this location.
Happy Caching!
