The Lawrence of Arabia Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

erik88l-r: Cache is apparently gone, cache owner has not logged on in over three years, so I have archived it for him. Thanks for the past fun. Not sure why people log caches as "found" when they didn't, but they cheat only themselves and make clearing out listings for caches that are gone more difficult.

Geocache Description:

The Wadi Rum desert area in the south of Jordan is like nothing you've seen before. It is a beautiful landscape with rock formations scattered around. The area is roughly 45x45 km and it ends at the Saudi northern border. This is where famous movies like "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Red Planet" was filmed. You can drive around the area with 4x4 vehicles either with our without a guide. If you are in Jordan, this is a must-visit.

The cache is a plastic box with a lid with a rubber sealing. It contains an instruction sheet, a pencil with sharpener, eraser, a log-book, a disposable camera and a "present". The container is buried in the desert sand (approx 5 cm deep) so it is easy to dig it up using your hands. On top of the cache there are six stones as a marker. Three bigger ones (approx 30 cm diameter) and three smaller ones (approx 15 cm diameter). These stones are visible from the south direction. This cache is close to the small stone "bridge". Once at the cache take a look at the view to the south towards the Saudi border. It is breathtaking....
